Weaam Sperinck is a 2009 Glasgow School of Art graduate with BA(hons) in Design: Visual Communication.
In the 2009 D&AD competition she was awarded with the privilege of being published in their Annual for her animation "Birth of the Black Hole". In the same year she found herself one of the few semifinalists in the globally acclaimed Adobe Achievement Awards in the Animation category for "Kakuarshuk".
Towards the end of her visual communication degree Weaam became absorbed in the themes of opposites, reverses and reflections. The main theme in each of these being: light and the absence of it. This encouraged her to view light as both an inspiration and as a medium, and explore its applications in both illustration and animation.
Storytelling is an important factor in Weaam's work; it drives her imagination and begins to construct the imagery that she later moulds into works of tangibility. Her work tends to be experimental through to the final stages. She hears of interesting new or old methods of creating images and explores their potential as far as they permit. Some of her recent ventures were into the realm of photography, particularly in the unconventional techniques of creating photographs without the use of a camera.
Currently Weaam is working as a Freelance Designer and Creative Consultant in Bahrain.
